At least 10 national associations are holding fly-ins or legislative conferences in Washington, D.C., this week.
The National Sheriffs' Association held a Super Bowl party Sunday during its winter legislative and technology conference. Members were so offended by Beyonce's halftime performance that they reportedly turned off the video and volume.
Columnist Paul Bedard of the Washington Examiner said the association told him they were angry that the NFL allowed Beyonce to perform her hit song "Formation," which they consider to be anti-police. The NSA posted the Washington Examiner story on its Facebook page and also retweeted Bedard's tweet about the article.
Other groups meeting in Washington this week include the Manufactured Housing Institute, National Association for the Support of Long Term Care, Association of Community College Trustees, Major Counties Sheriffs' Association, NAIOP—Commercial Real Estate Development Association, Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers, the National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones, CompTIA and the Native American Indian Housing Council.
The National Rural Water Association will also hold its Great American Water Taste Test finals on Wednesday, after visiting Capitol Hill offices on Tuesday.
